While we pride ourselves in offering a Facebook fan page customization service that’s easy and user-friendly for people with no technical experience, we realize that there are a lot of you who do have some technical knowledge (designers, programmers, developers) who just don’t want to deal with the Facebook application side of things (creating a Facebook Developer account, setting up actual Facebook apps through it, etc.), or want even more free reign than our DIY app offers.
An example of our Embed app in action.
That’s why we’re introducing a new app today, simply called “Embed”. It’s a very simple app to set up, but that simplicity is also what makes it incredibly powerful. What our Embed app does is allows you to embed almost anything that’s on the internet, including web pages, web sites, Flash animations, images, and more.
All you do on FBiframes.com is enter in the URL of whatever you want to be embedded onto the fan page, and that’s it! That’s right – with this app, developers can now build their own custom pages, forms, sites, and so much more, and have it work right in Facebook.
We are very excited about this app because it will open up a whole new world of possibilities and opportunities for not only the owners of fan pages, but also designers and programmers (developers). (Stay tuned for news on a design contest we’ll be having!)
App settings - just specify the URL of what you'd like displayed on your fan page and you're all set!
For example, if you’re a developer, a business could contract you to build them a custom 2 page site to be displayed on their fan page. You would just create it in a directory on their website (or your own) at something like http://www.business.com/facebook/site/, and put all the html, images, css, etc. for that site into that directory (and sub-directories if you like to keep things organized). Once you have it looking and running as desired, just paste that URL into our Embed app and publish it to the business’s fan page. It’s that simple!
One thing to note is that there is one main restriction with this, and it’s that the width that Facebook provides for custom content on fan pages is 520px wide. So, it’s advisable that whatever you embed is that width, or smaller (otherwise you’ll have scrollbars).
If you’re a developer, you can take advantage of this right now by offering it to your clients. The way our system works is as long as you’re made an administrator of a fan page, you can add apps to it. So, you can manage all your clients’ apps, pages, content, etc. on their behalf.
We also would like to start building a resource that helps connect developers with businesses who need work, so please contact us if you might be interested in this.
If you’re a business owner and would like the benefits of this app, but don’t have the technical resources to do it yourself or don’t know a developer, contact us and we’ll be happy to help you out!
