The Secret Sauce

How Your Small Businesses Can Make the Most Out of Social Media Marketing

Posted on 28 September 2012 by FBiframes

Can Your Small Business Utilize Social Media Marketing?

Many small businesses are taking steps to grow their operations, and one of the ways that they can do that is through the use of social media. You will find quite a few different ways to use social media, and when you approach it correctly, it’s possible to use the various social networks to help grow your customer base and to engage with them. You will find that you have quite a few options when it comes to social media today, so it is important that you are working with only the outlets that are going to be right for your company. If you try to overextend yourself with social media, you will find that you just can’t give enough attention to each of the sites, and it could backfire on you.

Businesses Get to Know Their Fans and Followers

One of the best things about social media is that it can connect the world. Your fans in your local area and around the world will be able to connect with you on the social media sites. This is going to give you the opportunity to learn more about what they want and expect from your company, as well as to learn the things that they like about your company already. When you have interesting and engaging material on your site, you will find that they are going to share that information with their own network. This means that you could have more fans coming into the fold.

Of course, this means that you should be providing quality information and useful information to your followers. If the only thing that you talk about and post about is your own company, you may find that you lose fans. Engage the fans, ask questions, and provide them with things that are useful and fun in your posts. It really is that simple.

New Ways of Advertising and Promoting

While you do not want to make all – or even many – of your posts self-promotional, the sites are a great way to do a bit of advertising on occasion. Even better, with sites such as Facebook, you will be able to use their Promoted Posts and even FB ads to reach more people. Advertising can be helpful, but you might find that simply engaging with the fans you have is enough to boost your number of followers and to grow your business. You will also find that the social media sites are a great way to integrate your brand to the social networking world without spending a fortune.

How to Deal with Negative Criticism of your Brand

Posted on 25 September 2012 by FBiframes

Negative Criticism… Now What???

Getting onto the social networks is one of the most important things that you can do for your business today. If you have a business, even if you are just the sole proprietor, then you need to have a presence on the social sites such as Facebook and Twitter. These sites can be great places for you to grow your brand, network, meet new people and customers, and develop a real and loyal following. However, whenever you have a large group of people together, negativity is going to rear its head. You have to know how to deal with this negativity when it deals with you or your brand. It is vital that you come off professionally; otherwise, you will start to lose followers and customers.

What Do the Negative Comments Say?

The first thing that you will have to learn how to do is to take your ego and your pride out of the equation. If someone says something, you have to approach the comment objectively. Check to see if the comment has any truth behind it. You could find one of several things.

Perhaps the customer really did have a problem with the service or product you provided. If they bought something that did not work as advertised, then they may have a legitimate complaint. It would have been better if they went through other channels to rectify the matter, but you can still handle the issue. Find the underlying cause of the complaint and help to make things right with the customer. This will show other followers that you care about your customers and that you will help them if there is a real problem.

Others might have a negative comment that has little to do with anything that you can actually control. If you sell your artwork, photography, or writing, you have to be aware that people have different tastes. Some people just aren’t able to explain eloquently why they do not like something, so you may have to deal with the obtuse “this sucks” from time to time. Whether you are selling a product or merchandise, this can happen. Often, ignoring these types of comments is sufficient.

On the other hand, some people out there are extremely negative, often for no reason other than the fact that they can be. They could post repeatedly negative comments to your social media sites, blog, and more. In these cases, it is often best to block and report the user.

Let us know how you have handled negative criticism of your brand.

Three Tips to Manage Your Social Media Reputation

Posted on 22 September 2012 by FBiframes

Managing  Your Social Media Reputation is alot of work but does it have to be??

How much thought do you give to your online social media reputation?  Too many companies do not even think about their reputation until they realize that they have a problem. A bad reputation can affect whether a customer wants to do business with your company or a competitor’s company. A great reputation can help to grow your business and a bad reputation can ruin you. With social media and the Web, it is easier to get a grasp on reputation and monitor it. With proper monitoring, it can be possible to prevent issues from arising. It can also make it easier to deal with problems already reaching out and affecting you.

Tip #1 – Build a Quality Reputation

When you are trying to build and keep a quality reputation, it can require some work. If someone types your company’s name into a search engine, your site should be the first thing that pops up, and items that follow should be results from places such as Facebook and Twitter. Good SEO can help with this and a strong social media presence can ensure that the first pages that come up regarding your name show your site in a positive light. This means that older news that might be unflattering is not going to show up in the top search results.

Positive information, posted frequently, will help to keep your reputation looking great. One of the great things about your social media sites is that you will have control over them just as you have control over your own site, so it is easier to make sure your reputation stays positive.

Tip #2 – Dealing with Trouble

Sometimes, something occurs that could damage your reputation. You need to make sure that you handle the problem appropriately. Always monitor your walls and your social media sites to see if your customers have any issues or negative comments. You should respond to those situations and make them right as soon as you can. Respond to comments and be helpful, and you can make many problems go away.

Tip #3 – Use an Alert System

Knowing that you have to monitor what people say about your brand is one thing, but knowing how to do it is another. Fortunately, you can find some great tools that will help you keep abreast of what people are saying. Try Google Alerts and SocialMention, which can help you keep on top of everything that’s happening, so you can keep your social media and online reputation great.

Five Tips for Running Social Media Promotions

Posted on 19 September 2012 by FBiframes

Good Tips for Running Social Media Promotions

Running promotions on your social media sites can be a great way to increase interest in your company and your products, but you have to make sure that you are doing your promotion the right way. Here are some quick and simple tips that you should keep in mind whenever you are considering your own promotion or giveaway for your company.

Tip #1 – Know the Rules

Different social media sites are likely to have different rules when it comes to promotions and giveaways. This means that you are going to need to research those rules. With Facebook, for example, you will need to use a third party online application for designing the promotion. They are usually quite simple to use and will have the instructions on how to set up the promotions.  FBiframes is a tool that many are using, but you can find others. Make sure that you check through all of the regulations regarding the site and our stance on giveaways though. If you do not, they could shut down your page.

Tip #2 – Have a Strategy

Why are you having a promotion in the first place? You need to have a plan and a strategy in place. What are your company’s goals for the promotion? You are giving something away to increase your company’s brand, but that’s often something that’s hard to measure. Instead, a goal could be something such as getting 100 more fans or followers to your page. This is something that you could attain and something that you can see and measure.

Tip #3 – Promote it Right

When you are doing your promotion on one of the social media sites, make sure that you promote it on other sites. For example, if you are going to run a Facebook promotion, make sure that you let, people who follow you on Twitter know about it. Make sure you promote it on your site as well. This ensures that people that follow you on one site know about the promotion and that they might then follow you on the social media site where you are doing the actual promotion.

Tip #4 – Make It Easy

You want to make your promotion easy to understand. Have the rules as simple as possible, and provide instructions for people to use. Remember that some people are not proficient on the computer so the easier you make it the better!

Tip #5 – Analyze Your Results

After the promotion, you will be able to see how well you’ve done and if you’ve met your goals. If you have, then you might want to set up a new promotion for the future.
